never thought

Honestly I've always hated Britney. I couldn't stand the fake looks, fake singing, fake that is pop music. I'm more into groups like Yes, U2, America, Boston, etc. Anyways I got really bored one morning and there was a story about Britney in which they played some of the songs from this CD. I kinda liked them so started listening to them more and more. Finally I ended up buying it, go figure. Over all I have to say, she's finally getting it right. Enough with the playing it to the way you think people want. I recommend this to people of all ages and tastes in music, its catchy.

Guilty Pleasure...

Okay, so I was definitely turned off on Britney for the last year and a half. That whole Kevin episode is her business, but I was kinda tired of hearing about it...and that's not really her fault, but that last album didn't interest me at all...and I kind of associate the two together (like that award show "dance"). But after watching her documentary "For The Record" (first out of sheer curiosity - and I admit I really got into it and feel for her) and hearing her speak candidly about things, it definitely restored my perspective on her. I always support people who are honest, intelligent, funny, mature, etc. Also, I heard a few of the songs from this album in the documentary and really liked them. I'm not a typical Britney fan - it's not something I run around talking about - but I digress.

"Womanizer" is obviously a pretty catchy song.

"Circus" is one of my favorites - it's just a very fun and interesting song with a great beat. Doesn't get old!

"Out From Under" is a great slow song that really seems to show a lot of vulnerability, as is "Shattered Glass".

"Unusual You" is a pretty interesting sounding song, and the line "didn't anyone tell you - you're supposed to break my heart - I expect you to - so why haven't you?" is pretty vulnerable and kinda makes you feel for her.

"Blur" is a song with a good slow beat and interesting lyrics about her last year or so. I really like her singing in that...seems more natural than trying to force it.

"Radar" is a cool song - I read that it's from the last album, perhaps I need to give that another chance...and perhaps that's the reason it was put on this album too.

"Phonography" is a racy yet innocent-enough little diddy that has a pretty cool beat and once again has great singing by Britney.

I really do love this album. I'm not going to deck my walls with Britney poster or go see her concert...but this will definitely be a guilty pleasure album for me - and I'm a bit of a guilty pleasure fan of hers now! :P

The Queen of Pop has truly returned

It's rare nowadays that a CD stirs me so much to come out of hiding to write a review. I have written many many reviews here on Amazon, but it's not often that I find something good enough to find it worth spending my time on.

That being said, let's get to the meat of the review. I bought this CD simply because I loved "Heaven on Earth" from Blackout and I read that the lady who helped produced that track, had another track on this album, which is "Rock Me In" on the deluxe version. That really was the only reason I bought this CD was to hear that song.

Well, first off, Womanizer is an awesome title track, but it pales in comparison to the rest of this amazing CD. Every track bleeds with emotion. Every track leaves a trace behind in your head. It really reaches out to grab you by the neck to make you pay attention. Britney's vocals have improved greatly since her early days and they truly do shine on some of the more ballad-esque tracks on the CD, especially on "Unusual You".

Many of the tracks are really fun, great to dance to and blast in your car. A couple of standouts are "Shattered Glass", "Circus", "Rock Me In", "Mannequin", and "Radar".

My favorite tracks on the album, "Shattered Glass", "Rock Me In", and "Circus". Don't get me wrong though, ALL these songs are amazing in their own right.

The Queen of Pop has truly finally returned after a few false starts, her talent shines on this album brighter than any previous release. Welcome back Britney.

It all sounds the same to me.

I am not a Britney fan but I listened to these tracks and they all sound the same. I have to admit Womanizer is not a bad song but all the songs sound the same to me as if there was no talent that went into this. I think Britney needs to move up and try different styles of music or mix it up a little.
