What we have here is a very potent collection of songs by the legendary Britney Spears. I remember some years ago I realized that she had a lot of good songs out, but they were scattered across several albums and I didn't want to buy 3 or 4 albums to get them. Well, it was my good fortune to eventually stumble upon this album. Out of 17 songs, I really like 14 of them, and that's a really good ratio. If you already have all of her other albums, you may want to pass on this one, but for someone like me, this is a really good deal.
This is a great collection of Britney's older and more recent hits. If you are a fan or just like the top hits, then this is perfect. It has all the songs I like (even the hard to find Me against The music w/Madonna) A definite buy for any fan of Britney, even if just casual.
The music here is as sweet and sexy as the performer herself. All of her best, packaged to please everyone who has enjoyed Britney's work over the length of her career, from the innocent lass who took the music world by storm to the more worldly-wise and beautiful woman who personifies survival and resurrection with her more recent contributions to the music scene. This is a compilation that shows remarkable development of a career that will stand the test of time - Britney will always be ranked among those who most influenced popular music. This CD is a great way for the hard-core Britney fan to have much of her beloved music in a single disc, and is a way for the uninitiated to get their hands on something that they may be surprised to find is both hypnotizing and fulfilling.
I'm shocked I'm actually reviewing this, but I am! 3 stars because it's missing some of her great songs. That's what I hate about these greatest hits packages.
We have seen Britney start at sweet tennie poppy pop to dance-pop Bliss. This "greatest hits" is probably her best one so far. The remasters shine the original album versions by far(iPod shows it). The booklet is like a mini music video shoot and the dvd is really iconic.
To start off, "The Singles Collection" starts with the electro, catchy tuned "3", which is probably one of her best workout, dance all nights songs and her career. It really is trully a brillant Britney song that you will imediatly go "This is a Britney song to me and I love it". Then you go to the Best selling teen album ever with the #1 single in every country it charted in "Baby One More Time" and the dance craze and top 10 hit "(You Drive Me) Crazy (The Stop Remix!)" and the UK hit "Born To Make You happy". To me, it's her best choice of 3 singles from the album(but to the fans it just isn't) Just because "Sometimes" isn't up their(Hey Britney said on the Onyx Hotel Tour she didn't like the song anyway). Then, we go to "Oops!... I Did It Again" her biggest openig week sum ever in the U.S. The album went gold in a day and went platnium in a week. Everyone who has at least one Britney album has this one. The top 10 hit Oops!...I Did It AgainOops...!I Did It Again and top 20 hit "StrongerStronger" are the only two hits on the 2nd album exept "Lucky" was a hit. Then we get the inbetween album "Britney" with the top 30 hit "I'm a Slave 4 UI'm a Slave 4 U" (which also charted on the R&B charts). The ballad "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" and the remix of "Boys" feat. Pharraell. Then their comes the sexually charged, don't listen to this if your under 13 "In The Zone' with the clutch produced pop meets alternative hip-hop "Me Against The MusicMe Against the Music' feat. Queen of Pop Madonna(Britney's gainig up on you). The top 10 hit should of been #1 "Toxic" which is Britney at her best and the song helped her win her first Grammy, "Everytime' ends the pack not my favorite and is the only ballad on the album(on the U.S. version at least). We get the Danga produced "Gimme More" and the paparazzi taunting "Piece of Me" from one of her best albums ever "Blackout". Then, we end with four songs from "Circus" the number one catcy electro synth pop "Womanizer" and the R&B influenced debuted at #3 "Circus" plus the contraversol top 20 hit "If U Seek Amy" and we end with the catchy on two albums(now 3) "Radar" which ends the album perfectly!!!!
