In the six years since her debut CD ...Baby One More Time set Billboard charts a-trembling, Britney Spears has pried open pop music's rusty cage and sprinkled her sex-kittenish fairy dust around like long-overdue disinfectant. She has also arguably done more for the neglected navel than Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé have done for the derrière. But despite her well-earned reputation for boldness (to which releasing a greatest-hits package after just four discs can only add), Britney calls it quits at making claims about her vocal talent. And that works in her favor. Because while My Prerogative is an exciting and even at times superb record, its merits lie almost exclusively in each track's production. From the Abba-esque choruses of her earliest hits ("...Baby One More Time," "Crazy") to the twitching, pulsed-up grooves of 2001's "I'm a Slave 4 U" to the technified bleeps and swizzles of 2003's self-skewering "Outrageous," the pop princess proves she's been largely content to let her in-studio performances take a back seat to the rhythm. With beats as consistently good as the ones she's managed to recruit, though, it's hard to blame her. "Toxic" and "Me Against the Music" mash trance and hip-hop into the mix, and the three previously unreleased joints don't shrink from sliding headfirst into new sound, either. The Bobby Brown cover and title track stomps and bomps to a bared-teeth backdrop, and "Do Somethin'" creates such dancefloor urgency it should come with a siren. "I've Just Begun (Having My Fun)" treads two steps shy of crossing the Britney-bred boundary between sexy and raunchy, but fans will hope it's autobiographical anyway. For detractors the song--and the disc as a whole--should signal a long wait till the party's over. --Tammy La Gorce

Britney Spears' Prerogative.

All the tracks in this album are great. I can't say that enough times, but I ADORE Britney's version of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative"!!! For starters, it is empowering to hear A WOMAN sing a song like this. It makes me feel that there's nothing men can do that we can't do also. This is MY personal anthem. My Prerogative. Thank you, Ms. Spears for re-releasing this song.

Do Something - Great song!

I've Just Begun having my Fun - Why didn't this track get released earlier?

Her first Greatest Hits, my review.

I'm ashamed to admit that I wasn't a fan of Britney until 2004 when I saw her Megamix video. At the same time, I had her first two CD's Baby One More Time and Oops I Did It Again. Since then I started liking her music. I got the Greatest Hits My Prerogative CD and I thought that was really cool. Later on I also got the DVD version, and then I fell in love with Britney and her work. She's a damn good artist.

Couple years later I have the rest of her albums and her remix album. I don't have her new greatest hits and all of her singles (I have a few of them)

I would like to give this album a 10 out of 10.

Britney Is Not The Next Madonna, She Is In A League Of Her Own!!

People say that Britney tries too hard to be like Madonna but what non fans seize to realize is she just likes singing her music.

I think people look at Britney and see a crazy person who broke down a while back and so many people judge her and think they could do no wrong, but people don't fool yourselves because I was one of those people who hated Britney for the longest time and now that her new album CIRCUS is out in stores I became a full fledge fan of hers!!

I took my time and waited until she got better and sampled her album by chance, I was surprised by what I heard!!

She has a voice that some compare to Madonna and I think her voice is amazing!!

She may not write all her songs but the ones that are hits are usually the ones that take you by surprise!!

My Prerogative is a collection of her hits starting with her debut album all the way to her 4th studio album!!

This collection will make any non fan or fanatic realize what made Britney Spears Britney Spears, her music!!

Buy now and take the time to look closer.

High-energy music great for singing and dancing along...and as a "best of," you can listen straight thru w/o skipping tracks

Bad parenting/decision-making and emotional/mental instability aside, Britney Spears is definitely a hit maker. She, and everyone involved in the production of her projects, really know how to create a fun, pop-y product. Britney's work is like the junk food of the music world, but I love junk food, mixed in w/ more "nutritious" fare in my musical selections.

I love listening to her music in the car, particularly when I'm stuck in traffic (I live in L.A.), but even when the road is open and clear, the drive goes more quickly and is more enjoyable when I can sing along w/ the artist, and even do a little chair-dancing or head-nodding. This kind of music is also excellent for when you're having a little trouble getting started on tasks like cleaning, and as working to a rhythm is often preferable for me, food prep/cooking is made more lively w/ Britney's music.

GREATEST HITS: MY PREROGATIVE is a fun compilation of the best tracks from her multiple albums, where you can listen straight through w/o skipping tracks. There are a few new tracks added, as well, including an energetic and sexy cover of the Bobby Brown hit, "My Prerogative." Britney may not be the kind of artist who can sing well live, and isn't someone who seems to be dedicated to her craft as a musician, but her music is of the production-oriented variety, anyway, so none of that affects my love for this album...it's fun and light, and music so infectious that it gets you singing and dancing couldn't be all that bad, right?

REALLY Great Greatest Hits Albums

Whereas many artists now put out Greatest Hits albums that are full of songs that are really nothing more than a collection of songs that were released to radio. In Britney Spears case, nothing is further than the truth. All of these songs are great listens. Most were very hot on the radio and on the music video stations.

This collection encompasses everything. From the breakout song "Baby One More Time" to the more recent hits of "Toxic" and "Outrageous." If you have been a casual Britney fan for years, then this collection will contain all of the hit songs you know and love up from her first four albums.
